Why I love Bojack Horseman

Poster of the first two seasons

It’s easy to get fooled by the series’ silly animation style or anthropomorphic characters and make a false assumption that “BoJack Horseman” is yet another dumb adult comedy cartoon. But the show is so much more than just it. The animated world here is unique and surreal, which gives the series a ton of freedom and plays an important role in delivering the show’s message.

“BoJack Horseman” is a brilliant, intriguing, funny, and thought-provoking satire on society, pop culture, and show business. It is dark, intense, and heartbreaking. Comedy in the series is good, but not the main feature of it. “BoJack Horseman” mostly focuses on portraying and exploring psychological problems, asking philosophical questions, and unfolding a simple yet compelling plot.

For me, the only flaw of the show — not a very strong 1st season. Even though it served the purpose of an introduction well, it doesn’t have great humor or drama, basically not revealing the series’ full potential, and I guess it might cause someone to stop watching the series.

Summing up, “BoJack Horseman” is one of the best(if not the best) Netflix Originals out there. Highly recommended.
